Neighbors you know, bankers you trust.
Since 1902, the Mauch Chunk Trust Company has been giving back to local communities with more than just financial contributions. We have an unyielding commitment to strengthening neighborhoods, improving education and encouraging volunteerism in the communities in which we operate. This vision of shared success is a responsibility that we take very seriously and we recognize our role as a local resource to help make a real difference.
Each year, through our Community Hero Program, we honor four - six individuals who have displayed outstanding service to their community by devoting a substantial amount of time to non-profit and/or charitable organizations. These heroes are honored at an annual banquet and receive an award from MCT, citations from both the State Representative and State Senators, and $100 is donated by the bank to the organization/charity of their choosing.
By strengthening the fabric of our communities we help them to seize today's opportunities and to meet the demands of an uncertain future. At Mauch Chunk Trust Company, our commitment is to bettering the quality of life for our customers and our communities. The Robert B. Conner Private Foundation helps the poor and needy residents of the Borough of Mauch Chunk (now Jim Thorpe) with assistance in defraying the costs of fuel and medical expenses. Additionally, our support of numerous area charitable organizations can be seen on youth sports uniforms, theater programs and at many other community events. Looking beyond the financial contributions, Mauch Chunk Trust Company is the sole sponsor of the annual fireworks display at the Jim Thorpe Stay at Home Festival in July. The spectacular display is free of charge and enjoyed by hundreds of festival attendees.
Trust 5K Run/Walk
Seventy runners and walkers completed the inaugural Trust 5K on Saturday September 7th--including at least one out-of-stater who came from Cincinnati Ohio to run the race with his brother from Pocono Pines! Robert Muscovitch of Jim Thorpe broke the tape as overall winner with a time of 20:45. The top female runner was Delena Nalesnik of Nesquehoning, who ran the out and back trail course in 24:38. One ‘tween’ runner from Palmerton scurried across the finish line, collected his medal, and energetically ran off to play a soccer game!
Pat Reilly, President of the lead sponsor, Mauch Chunk Trust Company, participated with family members and other walkers. According to Mr. Reilly, “What a pleasure to join our friends and neighbors on this wonderful trail, located right here in our historic downtown. Let me congratulate not the just the winners but everyone who participated. Nature, recreation and community—what a perfect start to the day. I want to also recognize the team from Blue Mountain Health Systems for their help in leading the way in health and fitness; plus of course the many volunteers who lent a helping hand. We’re delighted to celebrate our heritage and have dedicated all proceeds to the maintenance of the D&L Trail in Carbon County.”
Plenty of spectators –joined by the early finishers--gathered at the start/finish line at the Carbon County Trailhead of the D&L Trail. Located at the north end of the county parking lot alongside the Lehigh River, everyone cheered on runners and walkers while enjoying the healthful snacks provided by BMHS and water from the Jim Thorpe Market.
It all began just after 8 a.m when the horn sounded and runners took to the D&L Trail where they could enjoy a spectacular view of the Lehigh River below, cross the former Nesquehoning Trestle, and enter Lehigh Gorge State Park. From there they looped back to cross the finish line where it all began.
The wide, flat, off-road course and beautiful scenery proved to be a favorite among the racers. Timer Joe Mogilski of Summit Hill commented, “This course saved my running career. I could no longer take the pounding of running on road when the D&L opened. It started a whole new chapter of running for me.”
At Mauch Chunk Trust Company we realize that our legacy is today's youth who will soon be tomorrow's leaders. The Anna Marie Helbing Nursing Education Foundation gives scholarships to local students pursuing a nursing education. In addition, MCT also administers several other scholarships that are awarded to local graduating high school seniors on an annual basis. We are confident that the financial support given to these dedicated students is repaid many times over through the service they will provide to their communities throughout their professional lives.
At Mauch Chunk Trust Company, we pride ourselves in being more than just the local bankers ... we are your neighbors.
